Last week we went to our largest live event since CES last January. Clarendon Day in Arlington, VA had over 10,000 people and I felt like I spoke with all of them!

We’ve been to trade shows, we’ve been to races, but this was our first “festival” type event, I suppose. Here are a few lessons I learned:

1. If you lay product out on a table people are going to assume it’s free for the taking. If I had parked my car next to our booth someone would’ve checked for the keys so they could drive it away.

2. Signs help. Check out this beauty…

3. I have a long way to go to being a good salesman. I love our product so much, I have no idea why I’m hesitant to sell people on it in person. As the event went on, though, I got more comfortable, and the sales started coming as a result. I’ll get better.

4. People love the product! This is always reassuring. We know it sells as a running accessory but I wasn’t exactly sure how we’d do at a “festival” type of event. We were literally situated next to a grilled cheese stand and two down from a brewery. I love our products…but as much as grilled cheese and beer?! I don’t know.
